These pageant retouchers both horrify and fascinate me, but I think you already knew that about me :P What continues to surprise me is just how heavy-handed some of the retouching is I've seen in the established fashion publishing/advertising world. Yikes.

Agreed 1000%. The "flaws" make up the interest, the uniqueness and charm of people. Remove those and there's nothing worth having in the long run.

So I wonder if by going so overboard they can say they're making them "dolls" and not mimicking adult women presenting sexual allure?
I agree on the surprise at the complete acceptance of non-realistic processing. At first it seemed that people were being highly processed but still looked human, so the upset was that these perfect images were being presented as reality. Now, there's not even an attempt to look human.
Madonna got old just in time, I think.
