Fourteen. The Next Day and The Cold Stare.
Hyukjae is looking outside the window again. Not thinking about Donghae but thinking about the guy he met yesterday at the forest. Who is he? Why there’s blood from his shirt? Is he hurt?
Hyukjae’s train of thoughts was cut off when Hero entered the room. He fastened his seat and was about to open his notes when Hero put his hands on the desk and placed it on Hyukjae’s notebook.
“Hello Hyuk! Why am I feeling you’re avoiding me? We already met yesterday, right?” Hero then put his head closer to Hyukjae with a pout.
“That’s right. We just met yesterday. Hero, WE JUST MET YESTERDAY!” Hyukjae pointed out.
“But you’re my cousin’s boyfriend. We should be friends!” Hero said, looking at me with beautiful eyes.
“Hero, not because I’m Donghae’s boyfriend doesn’t mean we have to be friends as quickly as that.” Hyukjae then sighed when Hero pouts even more.
“So, I should ask you to be my friend, then? Can you be my friend, Lee Hyukjae? There! So we’re friends now!” Hero said and finally smiled.
Hyukjae sighed again before answering. “Does all vampires like that? Always bossing around?”
“Um, you can say so. We’re pure-bloods so what do you expect? We’re the leaders. We’re the powerful vampires.” Hero proudly stated.
“Yeah, yeah. But Donghae always listens to me every time and he doesn’t complain. Though, when he just suddenly said I’m his boyfriend the second time we met, that doesn’t count.” Hyukjae said.
“He said that? Wow! He must be in love with you at first sight! You know, Fishy, is very strict and scary before. He always bullies me when I made mistakes when we took missions together.”
“Mission together? And why are you calling him Fishy, by the way?”
“He still didn’t tell you?”
“No. I fell asleep on his arms yesterday.”
“Okay, first, I tell you everything from the very beginning. There are two wars happened. The first war happened a long time ago. It was because of Siwon’s ancestors who are greedy for the position of becoming the leader of the vampire clan. The first war ended in a peaceful manner when Choi Family gave up on the fight. They were out-numbered because Cho and our family (Kim) helped the Lee Family in the war.
Years passed and the relationship between the pure-blood families grows stronger. Donghae’s Family who was the leader aims for the peace between humans and vampires. We were aiming for good relationship towards humans so both of us can live peacefully in this world. Both parties agreed on the said treaty. But, things change into chaos when Choi family betrays us as soon as they tasted a human blood. They said that they don’t need to work with humans anymore because they are their food now.
Vampires are not allowed to kill and drink any human blood. That’s the no. 1 rule in our treaty. We can survive from drinking an animal’s blood or Junhyung’s father’s great invention: the X tablet. It’s a pill in which if you put it into the water, it will turn out to be blood.
So the second war started, Choi family and the other vampires who joined them after having taste the human blood cause a great danger towards humans and to us as well. They killed thousands of men and created ex-humans. And they couldn’t seem to get enough of it.
That’s the reason why we can’t drink the human blood, though it will bring us great strength that’s beyond more powerful than pure-bloods but it will give you uncontrollable urge to always want for blood.
So the war ended in a bloody way. Kyuhyun parents were killed in the battle, causing him to be in Donghae’s Family care. Donghae’s parents are still the one leading the vampire clan that time. Donghae is four while Kyuhyun is only two years old. The Lee family treated Kyuhyun like their own son and so does Donghae as his own brother.
Then, the mission started. Our parents created the Mission for humans and for our own safety as well. When Donghae was 6 years old and Kyuhyun were 4, they started training to eliminate ex-humans to prevent more killings and so we, their friends did the same too. While Donghae’s parents lead the team to eliminate pure-bloods together with our parents.
Even though we were still kids, we were taught to fight and defend ourselves when encountering ex-humans. When Donghae and I were 8 years old, Kyuhyun and Ryeowook was 6, Kangin Hyung was 9 and Heechul Hyung was 10; we started to hunt ex-humans as our mission.
We still do our missions even after entering middle school. But we stopped when an accident occurred.

It lasted for 3 years. Though, the mission stops when Kyuhyun got badly hurt in one of our missions. An ex-human drank Kyuhyun’s blood resulting him to be in grave danger. Donghae didn’t hesitate to give his own blood to Kyuhyun. After the incident, Donghae then took the responsibility of taking care of Kyuhyun by making him his own brother.
The Marshals took over us in hunting ex-humans. They were the elite forces of Vampires that came from the different parts of the world.
About the name Fishy, we have our different code names when he headed out to take our missions. Fishy is Donghae’s code name and mine is Hero. So everything’s clear now?”
“So am I going to be like that?” Hyukjae asks wearily. Donghae killed ex-humans before. If he turned into one, someday soon, then Donghae has to kill him?
“Don’t worry about it Hyuk. You did the first cure so I guess; you’re going to be alright.” Hero then smiled to him.
“So that’s why Donghae didn’t tell it to me. Because he knows I’m going to get hurt.” Hyukjae then suddenly get teary.
“Donghae wants to protect you Hyuk. So if you ever turned into a vampire or not, he will never kill you. I know that. He will make sure you’re going to be alright."
“But, but I’m scared. What if I turned into one? I don’t want to kill. I don’t want to kill a human like me!” Hyukjae exclaimed and cried on his palms.
“Hush now Hyuk. You won’t kill any humans. We just have to wait for the second cure so you have to fight. We’re here to protect you, okay? Nothing we’ll harm you.” Hero then hugs Hyukjae and rubs his back.
Donghae killed ex-humans before. Donghae bit me and he’s a pure-blood. And so I’m going to be an ex-human too.

The difference between you and Han Geng Hyung’s case is that he turned into an ex-human as soon as Heechul Hyung had bit him while you on the other hand, is still not yet turned into an ex-human after the bite until now.”
I nodded as a reply but I’m still worried from the fact that I’m still not an ex-human until now. When is that going to happen? I don’t think I’d be ready for it.
“I’ll be going now. If your chest is in heat, don’t hesitate to call me, okay Hyung? Bye!” Junhyung waved before exiting the clinic room.
I smiled wearily at the door, thinking about me turning an ex-human.
“Hero’s right. I should wait and fight. Donghae will never leave me no matter what. Most especially, he will never kill me if I turned into one.” I reassured myself before heading back to our classroom.
I went back to class, excusing myself from the teacher who’s discussing something on the board. I then took my seat and listen after.

the bell finally rang, indicating the classes ends. I fixed my things and slid it inside my bag before looking for my friends who’s still fixing their things.
“Teukie Hyung, Kangin’s not going to fetch you? You, Yesung Hyung? You’re not going to visit Ryeowook?” I ask.
“Kanginnie said he got some business to do.” Leeteuk Hyung said and smiled at me.
“Wookie said he’s busy too. Why? Donghae’s not coming?” Yesung hyung ask.
“He didn’t tell me he’s going to fetch me today. Maybe he’s busy. Let’s go home together, okay?” I said. And Leeteuk Hyung and Yesung Hyung nod as a reply.
“Hyuk, you’re not asking me to join you? I can walk you all home, you know.” Hero said pouting.
“Okay. You can come with us as well.” I said and smiled at him. Then the four of us walk outside the room
“This girl, Hyuk?” Yesung asks in a serious tone but we know he’s just joking.
“Hyung! I said I’m not a girl!” Hero exclaimed.
“But you really look like a girl.” Leeteuk joined Yesung as well.
“I said I’m not! Ugh! Hyuk! Help me!” Hero said and clings to my arms. He then sticks his tongue out to Leeteuk and Yesung Hyung.
We’re near the gate when I felt something’s watching us from afar. I got goose-bumps when I feel like it’s staring at me. I look around to check if I was right, but I don’t see anything or anyone. I shook my head after, thinking I was just imagining things.
But before I could put my attention back to my friends, my eyes caught something in the woods. It brought shiver down my spine when I saw a person standing in there, looking at us with eagle eyes. I took a closer look by making my eyes smaller but I can’t seem to get a good view of the guy’s face. His place is shaded with trees.
“Hyuk! What are you looking at?” Hero asks as he tags my uniform. He then looks to where I was looking at and then he gasp in terror. Like he saw something he doesn’t want to see.
“H-he’s here. H-he f-found me. W-what should I-I do?” Hero said shaking and grips my arms tightly.
“Who found you? Hero, did you see the guy there?” I ask and look back into the woods again to see the guy but he’s not there anymore.
“Y-yunho.” Hero said, still in shock.
“You’re boyfriend?” I ask. Since Junhyung told me about Hero having a boyfriend named Yunho.
“Y-yes. Oh my God! Oh my God! OH MY GOD! He’s here! WHAT SHOULD I DO?!” Hero then finally started to be panic.
“Hey, take it easy. He’s your boyfriend so why are you panicking like that?” Leeteuk asks.
“Yeah. Aren’t you happy he’s here to fetch you?” Yesung turns to ask.
“H-he’s not going to fetch me. H-he’s here for revenge.” Hero said, still frightened. His knees gave out and were going to collapse on the floor so; I took him in my arms and gave him support.
“Hyuk…” He called me and cried in my arms. I let him be. This is my way of thanking him earlier. He let me cry in his arms, so I should pay him back.
“Hush now, Hero. He’s your boyfriend so he will never do that to you.” I console him while rubbing his back. “You can stay in my room, tonight Hero. I don’t mind.” I said after a while and wiped his tears on his face.
“Can I Hyuk? Thank you!” Hero said and hugs me.
“It’s not for free, you know. You have some explaining things to do.” Leeteuk said and smirks at Hero.
Leeteuk Hyung said is true. I want him to stay at our dorm because of two reasons. One: because I want him to be safe. I’m still not sure if that Yunho is safe or not. Second: because I want to leech information about his boyfriend. Why he’s hiding from him? Why is he scared when he saw him?
If Hero turned that guy into a vampire, then he should be the one who’s scared because Hero is his master. Why the circumstances change?

“Hyuk! What are you looking at?” Hero asks as he tags my uniform. He then looks to where I was looking at and then he gasp in terror. Like he saw something he doesn’t want to see.
“H-he’s here. H-he f-found me. W-what should I-I do?” Hero said shaking and grips my arms tightly.
“Who found you? Hero, did you see the guy there?” I ask and look back into the woods again to see the guy but he’s not there anymore.
“Y-yunho.” Hero said, still in shock.
“You’re boyfriend?” I ask. Since Junhyung told me about Hero having a boyfriend named Yunho.
“Y-yes. Oh my God! Oh my God! OH MY GOD! He’s here! WHAT SHOULD I DO?!” Hero then finally started to be panic.
“Hey, take it easy. He’s your boyfriend so why are you panicking like that?” Leeteuk asks.
“Yeah. Aren’t you happy he’s here to fetch you?” Yesung turns to ask.
“H-he’s not going to fetch me. H-he’s here for revenge.” Hero said, still frightened. His knees gave out and were going to collapse on the floor so; I took him in my arms and gave him support.
“Hyuk…” He called me and cried in my arms. I let him be. This is my way of thanking him earlier. He let me cry in his arms, so I should pay him back.
“Hush now, Hero. He’s your boyfriend so he will never do that to you.” I console him while rubbing his back. “You can stay in my room, tonight Hero. I don’t mind.” I said after a while and wiped his tears on his face.
“Can I Hyuk? Thank you!” Hero said and hugs me.
“It’s not for free, you know. You have some explaining things to do.” Leeteuk said and smirks at Hero.
Leeteuk Hyung said is true. I want him to stay at our dorm because of two reasons. One: because I want him to be safe. I’m still not sure if that Yunho is safe or not. Second: because I want to leech information about his boyfriend. Why he’s hiding from him? Why is he scared when he saw him?
If Hero turned that guy into a vampire, then he should be the one who’s scared because Hero is his master. Why the circumstances change?
