Capitalism 0, The People 1.

So, those who have been reading my LJ for a long time, like a year or more, will know that when I went to America last year, there was a furore in the town in which Kerry lives at the prospect of McDonald's setting up shop less than 100yards from Kerry's house, on a derelict lot. Derelict for sure, for much less of an eyesore than a fire engine red ( Read more... )

I haven't eaten at McDonald's in about a year. I only eat there if there's really no alternative.

It's a proven fact that they put small amounts of anti-emetics in their food. An anti-emetic is a drug to prevent nausea and vomiting. Thus, even if the McDonalds food is so filth-ridden and poisonous that your body wishes to eject it, it won't - so that you won't know you just ate rat shit, and won't be able to blame McDonalds or complain.

Oh, pfft. Cite your sources.

Especially ridiculous because there've been plenty of instances when people have thrown up after eating Mc Donald's - and not because of the food, necessarily, but because they were sick.

I kind of hope that's true...I suffer terribly with motion sickness and if I thought that a patty of fried animal slurry might help, I'd gobble a few down before every bus journey.

flipping heck. that was a year ago?

and surely even if they don't have a Mcdonalds within 50 miles of there town, they would still have Mcdonalds packaging scattered all over.

I don't know how effective the boycots are, there's rarely enough people that join them to make a difference :0(

This whole issue has baffled me since I first read about it in your journal last summer. Why wouldn't someone want the greatest food on earth conveniently located 100 yards from their house? I wish they'd build a drive thru inside my apartment for Pete's sake. McDonald's... the finest dining. The place I would choose to have my last meal brought from before my execution. I love you Golden Arches!

I guess priorities change when you have a child and you think of all the pollution. Especially as nothing was said to Kerry when she bought the house (and the plans were in the pipeline at that point).

I guess McD's are OK for the city, but when you try to force one into a small community, you're asking for trouble.

Heh... I don't know man. I've been thinking about this for a few minutes now and I've realized something. First she's anti-McDs and then she's anti-Christina. She's clearly not girlfriend material at all. I think it's time you start looking around at options. Maybe that filthwizard or some guy from a chat room.

(My initial comment was meant jokingly and of course so was this one. Well... ok... I still have a hard time understanding the anti-McDs lobby.)
