I'm not sure you wanted a real answer to this, but the answer is: There were several people (mostly, but not all, American) who were in the final stages of adopting a number of Haitien orphans from the same orphanage in Port au Prince. Said orphanage has been severely damaged, and several of the orphans are as of yet unaccounted for. Apparently a tragedy seems more real when it's personalized, because now the whole world seems to be searching the net to find out whether the orphans have been found/identified, yet.
So it's a trending topic because it's one that everyone on yahoo is searching for/talking about.
But yeah. It reads pretty strangely when it's written out like that.
Yeah, it's a new feature, and I think "trending" is a stupid term to use on it's own. I don't have a yahoo chat account or anything, so I'm unsure as to why it's showing up in my inbox.
But in general, I'm sort of uncomfortable with classing the whole disaster along with gossip about Jay-Z (which was what preceded it, some other worthless celebrity followed) it seems off.
