LjIdol Week 5 - Build a Better Mousetrap

Apr 11, 2014 12:28

I love living in the country. Fresh air, an abundance of trees and birds and flowers, no neighbors within hollering distance watching me have lightsaber battles in the yard with my kids.

I love living in the country, but sadly, I am no country girl. I can't build a root cellar or make a snare and apparently, I don't know the first thing about mice.

While this is funny, I still feel bad for the baby mouseys at the end.

Oh dear! I went back and clarified the end a bit. I realized it sounded like I killed them - but I got the trap for the mom!

I also felt sad for those poor orphan mice. Awww. :(

I updated the end. I got several comments like this and realized I hadn't been clear about who I was catching in the snappy traps! Sadly, the babies died - I didn't really know how to care for teeny mouse-lings - but not on purpose!

Please see my comments above! I realized I needed to have been clearer about just who I was catching in the trap!

Yeah, rats and mice can be really gross! I know from first hand experiences!

They were driving me nuts! And mouse pee smell bad too! I wanted to be nice but it wasn't working.

Right now, my sister and I think we have a "polite mouse." She's seen the mouse and I haven't. We've not found droppings, though. We think it comes in and out of the electrical sockets when it is cold. She's only seen it along the walls.

However, years ago, we had rats at the place our family rented and just . . . ew . . .

I must say, that is how it starts. At first, I was hearing a little shuffling in the cabinets occasionally and I wasn't too concerned, but then came the poops...and it was all downhill from there!

Rats? EEK! At my last job, rats got into the library when they were doing some construction work and we'd see them dashing around in the stacks. It was rather unnerving!

I once beat a mouse to death with a saucepan while screaming "Die Mother...." They kept outsmarting my old fashioned traps.

The underwear would have been the breaking point for me too.

That is both funny and terrible! Mice are quite conniving. For the month or so we were dealing with them, it was rather consuming, trying to figure out what to do with them!!
