LjIdol Week 5 - Build a Better Mousetrap

I love living in the country. Fresh air, an abundance of trees and birds and flowers, no neighbors within hollering distance watching me have lightsaber battles in the yard with my kids.

I love living in the country, but sadly, I am no country girl. I can't build a root cellar or make a snare and apparently, I don't know the first thing about mice.

We got a cat, when we had ours. I still remember finding baby mice in my closet -- the cat sat in front of that closet for a day and a half before I (accidentally! I didn't know they were there) let him in. When I realized what it was, I left the room -- I like cats, but baby mice are not a thing I can stand to watch die.

Old-fashioned is definitely the most successful way to go, in terms of killing them.

Funny story. I'm sorry you had to resort to killing them. I never liked that part of it. I sat in our kitchen once for twenty minutes talking to the mice about how I didn't really want to hurt them, and if they would find another home, I wold not have too. They did not listen!

this was a fun piece, you should get a cat and let them do the dirty work keep your hands clean. felt bad for the babies though I like rodents.

I loved the fact that neither you nor your boyfriend knew mice could swim! They're hardier little creatures than most of us would probably like.

That's the problem with live-capture traps-- you need to take the creatures very far away (like, a forest) in order to keep them from coming back. But killing them is really hard, too.

The spider the size of a gerbil horrifies me. Gah!
