I love living in the country. Fresh air, an abundance of trees and birds and flowers, no neighbors within hollering distance watching me have lightsaber battles in the yard with my kids.

I love living in the country, but sadly, I am no country girl. I can't build a root cellar or make a snare and apparently, I don't know the first thing about mice.

All those mice would have completed squeaked me out. I think a cat may have helped...:)

I like the way you wove this into a story.

We also live in the country. We fight the same battle each year. Flar is allergic to cats, so I figure it's his battle. Meantime, we keep food in tins and chew-proof canisters. FYI, the big plastic barrels that come filled with cheesy poofs are not chew-proof.

Lovely story, very amusing :). It's unfortunate it had to be killed, but sometimes it's the only way.

I also didn't know mice could swim, learn something new every day.

Very well told... and a familiar story to me... I battled mice for a year or more when I moved to my new place... it can be SO frustrating! Great job!
