Please help me end MS

Hey, guys. I've decided to go on a long-ass bike ride to help find a reason and a cure for MS. I don't personally know anyone suffering from MS, but I do know people who have someone in their lives who are severely challenged due to a debilitating disease that is seemingly spontaneous and horrific. Go read about it, then donate hereI'll be ( Read more... )

Oh, good for you. My mom was diagnosed with MS when I was fourteen, and my aunt on my dad's side was diagnosed a couple of years later (and is faring much, much worse than my mom, sadly). It's a cause rather dear to me.

I am painfully short on money right now, but I'm working on it and I'll add you to the list of "things to do once I don't worry about where rent is coming from."

Thank you, Sarah. I didn't know your mom had MS. I keep hearing things about a possible vaccine, but without even knowing for sure about the cause is just terrible. Don't worry too much if you can't donate, I know you would if you could. I definitely understand the "painfully short on money" part.

Yeah, my mom was doing pretty badly for a few years - we had just built a new house at the time of the diagnosis and thought we'd have to move out because she couldn't get up and down the stairs. But it turns out that regular acupuncture appointments have done what even Mayo Clinic neurologists could not, and you'd never know anything was wrong with her.

The scary part about MS is how it affects people in such different ways, and how potential treatment plans also affect people so differently. I'm endlessly grateful my mom found something that worked. My aunt is in a wheelchair and hasn't found that something, and she's seriously sick of people saying, "Have you tried X? I know someone who had MS, and X fixed everything!"

Anyway: You are doing a good thing.

Jeanie, my mom's cousin, has it. Fortunately her parents are wealthy and have flown her to Germany for the latest treatments as long as I've known her, but it's still no picnic.

That is so awesome. My friend Gabe has MS and it is bad news. Would it be totally pathetic for me to donate like, $1? I would donate a million if I had it, but you know.

It would NOT be pathetic at all. Every dollar counts, you know!
