No more need for deciding what I need to do. I was about to walk away, much as I didn't want to... was still kinda hoping things would work out. But he's chosen the other girl. So I came in second best... again... not surprised. *sigh* oh well. One of these days...

I know it's hard not to feel second best, but really - strange as it may seem - try to look at it like shoe shopping. What you've successfully done is found another pair that doesn't fit right, so you can eliminate that one from consideration. ;) Much as you don't want shoes that bind and chafe (or any other clothing item, for that matter) you don't want a guy who will chafe, either - and if he's not wholeheartedly into you, he'd chafe pretty damned fast.
I'm glad you were on the point of walking when he made up his mind, because that shows you know you deserve better. Good for you. Hang on to that.
