Don't worry about the Russian journals. I believe it stems from the fact that LJ is Russian-run now, so either the LJ users are new Russians who don't know wtf they're doing, or spam artists. I just don't friend back.
oh sweets. I think I would be weirded out too if that was going on with my f-list. Anyway a little cleaning out is always good, I do that to keep sane too. I hope you'll get your control back really soon. *hugs* Kia
I've had a couple of random Russians friend me as well, which freaked me rather, as I'm a nobody on lj and I couldn't think where they'd found me or why they'd be interested in me! But then I realised that if I didn't friend back they couldn't see anything that wasn't public anyway.
I loved Johnny and Evan plus seven, and friended you to make sure that I didn't miss any of it, but now that it's finished prune as necessary, lol. (though obviously I'd be happy to be unpruned).
LOL, that's a recent fandom and who knows, I could write a time stamp for that fic cuz it was enormous fun to write.
I'm a nobody too and found it odd but someone above suggested it's because Russia now owns/runs/whatever LJ. And it's true no need to friend back. But then I'd be picking and choosing whom to friend and so it seems better to just winnow the list to people who clearly have an interest in a fandom I like. That's a long explanation... sorry. ~overthinking

Pita no kidding. The locking thing, well, any old sock puppet can come along now anyway. And anyone who's underage and shouldn't be reading pr0n, how would I know? So I just gave up at one point.
I did it when LJ first started the whole FB/Twitter crossposting thing, but now with places like FYE it all seems kind of pointless. I just don't have the time or energy to go through & unlock all my fic or defriend ppl on my list LOL :D Maybe some day, but it's not realy high on my list right now.
Ah. I don't do twitter so am out of that loop. The FYE creeps are going to be mucking around in my business regardless so I just can't be arsed.
Me, I'm trying to simplify my life. All the clutter and noise around things like whether I should friend someone keeps my concentration off writing. Can't have that.
