u need to get a better lawyer, esp if you have no support.

Yeah, like everyone else pointed out, your husband's mediator will say anything. Get your own counsel.

My mother was divorced after 36 years of marriage. It was devastating but she picked herself up and made a new, and much happier, life for herself. You don't see it now but having that stress out of your life will only do you good.

Yep. Need a lawyer. 28 years and he pays no alimony? I don't buy that unless your incomes are close to equal.

And a financial counselor, too. It's hard to adjust to a dramatic decrease in income. Been there. A neutral third party can be a great reality check.

Thanks for all the advice...and hugs.

I'm trying to find a lawyer who I can talk to - for free - for an hour. I know we're trying to save money by using a mediator...but this is the rest of my life we're talking about and I want to just make certain my ass is covered.

and it's a big ass! ;)
