My Dad is in the process of dying.  He's 90, has advanced Parkinson's, and wishes to die at home in bed.   So he's in a bed in the living room, surrounded by cats and family and his beloved Gomer Pyle and Andy Griffith MeTV Shows.

Taking in very little fluids, he still calls out answers to Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.  Just making him comfortable

Sorry to hear about your dad. :-(

When I was in the hospital recently after my surgery, It was a private room, both times. I'm guessing that is the only kind of room the hospital has. It's a hospital in the state university system.
