If you have even a dollar that you can spare, there is a family that could really use the help. I know it's human nature these days to be skeptical about people but like bookworm says, sometimes you just gotta believe in people. Check out this link to read more about the people needing help.

The last few weeks, our parish has been pumping funds, materials, and labor to Stew Pot, Good Samaritan, and half a dozen others here in Jackson. We're only 400 people, so it's been a stretch. Others have responded too. The economy problem has squeezed people out on the bottom. It's difficult to get such folks organized to help themselves because, by the way of their lives, they are not.
Interestingly, the cooperation and colleageality among those of us involved on a day to day level has improved. We're definitely serving plenty of folks, in different ways from one organization or agency to another. We're a long way ahead of where we were last year, and people seem to be getting help.

it even make MSNBC news which was pretty awesome. I know there situation was by no means unique but it I can't help everyone in this situation but I did at least help them.
