Huh. Very interesting. My grandfather used it a lot. He was English but raised in Trinidad, CO.

I definitely never had any Pennsylvania Dutch connections! I think a lot of vocabulary is due to not only where you were raised, but where your parents were from, too, because most of us hear things like that from our parents and grandparents. I don't even really remember where I first heard the word, but I think it was on TV.
