It was the best of weekends, it was the worst of weekends

I pretty much spent the weekend hanging out with friends and having a good time. Lyon came up from CA, Rottydog came out from eastern oregon, and the rest of the gang took over Wolftales' place for the weekend. There was much alcohol and awesome foods made by Lyon consumed. The hot tub got a workout, Lucy did much barking and Magnum burned off many ( Read more... )

As an alternative to the absolutely rock solid investment that california realty has proven itself to be why not consider some rather inexpensive property on mineral rich Alaskan horizons?

Because he doesn't want to live in a wasteland? Man, I grew up in Alaska and even I wouldn't live where you're living.

If I ever retire and move back home it'd be in Palmer or Wasilla - somewhere sane and horse-friendly. And land in the Valley ain't exactly cheap, although it's still reasonable.

Oh believe me I have. Over the past year or so I seem to have built up a pretty strong social network of friends that I would end up missing badly if i left. Realizing this has made me analize what it is I don't like about this area and why. Having a place of my own, with space to do as I please, and a dry workshop to be creative in is really all I ask from a place, and I think that might be more attainable for me here than there in the near future.

Gimmie a few years and I might branch off from what I'm doing now (oh, and I really like my job BTW) to start developing land up there and building off-grid timber framed modular component houses / cabins :p

Couple options for you.

One - we talked about you moving George up to my place - I have RV hookups by the barn and we could come to some sort of arrangement that could benefit us both.

Two - Trig and I have a brand new 5 bedroom/3 bath house on 5 acres in Castle Rock, WA, that will be completed in about 2 months. Asking price is going to be about $320,000 but we might shave some of that off for a friend discount; more if you wanted to do it with out agents.

Three - in the next 6 months I'll be splitting off a couple acres in home sites on the unused ends of my property. It's zoned for modular homes so if you wanted to buy your own bit of land (you've seen the view) you can move George there, buy a nice manufactured home, or build a HiLine home all for very reasonable cost.

Let me know if you want to talk.

I can show you when you come up for the party.
