Thing is, if I were at Chez Cora, I'd probably go for some fancy crepe or something. When I eat out, I feel bad ordering things that I can make at home.
hehehe.. I used to get these random cravings for gefiltefish and hammondtashen (sp?) which would amuse Karyn greatly. And her mother. Who would pack hammie (hummie? hammy?) in her lunch to bring for me.
I'm not a fan of gefiltefish. At all. My mother is apparently famous for hers; she would get orders immediately following the high holy days for Pesach and after Pesach for the high holy days. So twice a year our house would STINK of boiling fish. Ew.
Hammentashen, however, I not only enjoy, but bake. Actually, true story, I baked a few hundred of them (no exaggeration) the last Purim I lived in Vancouver. I'll bake some this March too... you'll be welcome to them. (I tried to find the photo of my kitchen overflowing with hammentashen, but couldn't. Too bad, because itt's hillarious - I had to use up the whole table, all the counters, the window ledges, the tops of the stove, microwave, etc, to cool them all before storing them.)
oh wow.. that's a lot of hammentashen. and yay! I'd love some. So long to wait...
I liked the gefiltefish that karyn kept stocked at home. Don't know what the make was. Karyn (whose last name is Fish) did not like fish at all. Except for the gefilte variety. (What does gefilte mean again?)
