So. This dude named Alastair Pennycook who is a Linguist at U of T, wrote an article called "Global Englishes, Rip Slyme, and Performativity", which appeared in the Journal of Sociolinguistics, 7, 513-533.

I'm so into performance anthropology, and gender performance and identity. Yay! My professors probably all hate me because I always write my papers about identity and performance theory.

I'd actually never heard about it til now, but it seems really amazing to study.

Why would your profs hate you for writing about it?

Mostly because I'm always writing about the same thing :s But you can apply it to so many case studies, so I guess that's alright.

oh dude. you know what's really funny? when reading this comment, I read the word "sake" to mean Japanese beer rather than ... whatever the definition of "sake" is. How does one define "sake"? heh. Anyway.
