there are massage therapy chairs on ebay, brand new and at 25-50% of the cost of ordering one from a catalog. a couple of the girls in my class have gotten them and while they aren't the same quality as the ones in our classrooms they are still really good chairs. one of the girls has agreed to use her credit card and place the order for me when i ( Read more... )

Most places I have seen massaages cost from $20 for a 15 minute one. So I actually think you are under pricing... Just my thoughts on that...

it's about $1 per minute here for a chair massage. the thing is until i graduate and get my national certification and state lisence then i can not charge people. building my own massage clientelle is going to be the key to being successful when i get my license. i really want to keep from having to go work at one of the spa places for $10 an hour. i'm thinking for larger parties i will only give 5 minute massages and for smaller parties 10 minutes and by including some samples that will let me charge a party fee where i can't with just doing the massages.....does that make sense?

yeah, then in that case $10-$15 is about right...

Heck to get around teh silly rules you could even charge $10 for a roll of tp and throw in the massage for free :D

well, i am hoping that the soaps will help kick off the massages and the massages will help bring in soap n bath clientelles. they can buy their own tp :P

I think $10 - $15 is being generous. I want one!!! Since you aren't licensed yet, it is probably fair. Sounds like a great idea!

Another option to the not working at the spa places is to hook up with another type of professional. I know that sometimes chiropractors, alternative healing and places like that would like you to join their office. Just throwing out ideas.

i hope to work with one of the alternatives that you have mentioned. the pay prob won't be much more but the resume would be well worth it. i seriously, doubt if i can do my own practice completely on it's own for a long time.

seriously, though, if you had something like this in your area...would you pay that to go to a 'home party' if you got a product sample and a chair massage? granted the chair massages aren't long, but they are about half the time most corporate massages are.

I would. Definitely. I know I have been to scrapbooking parties where you have a fee of about that much. I think a pamper party would be even better imo. ;) Oh wait, pamper sounds too close to pampers (diapers) ;)

i thought of the idea of a 'pamper yourself' type of party but i think that would entail a bit more than just a massage and i'm not really qualified for all the beauty type things and well, i don't think people want a dozen folks taking a bath at their house lol
