Well, I did it at 8 in the morning and traffic was fucking ridiculous. They kept on redirecting me to the wrong pages.

it's done like that so that when you can't login because its busy, you dont get the frustration of the login followed by "too busy".

But I'd rather that than being redirected to the course info page every time I try to add a course.
