Anyone else who's on the pill have to go every 6 months to the gyno? I went in January and they issued me a prescription for 5 months and gave me one box for free. At the end of the 5 months, I asked for a refill, and they gave me two months worth. Now it's the end of those two months and I asked for another refill. They said they can't issue ( Read more... )

the pill, etc...(warning-sounding off) belcanto142 August 18 2004, 09:35:08 UTC
I am on the pill and so far, have only had to go to the gyno once a year- actually I am coming up to that point right now, where they issued me two months worth just until I can make an appointment for a pap, etc. This seems reasonable. i've been on the pill/patch for about 4 years and have had to go twice a year and get the whole thing. I went to two different doctors during that time and they both have told me that it is common practice and will not issue more than 1 or 2 months at a time. It sucks but what can you do? I think there are a few doctors out there who don't make you come in more than once a year but i've not been to them.

I have never heard of bi-yearly. For me, it was once a year!

I've been on it for a long time now. The first year I was on it, I went in for a checkup after 6 months to make sure it was going right. After that it's only once a year. My doc gives me a prescription for 12 refills when I go for my yearly. Any visits to the doc beyond this for the pill, I think, is a ploy to get your money. I would look into a new doc.

By the way, ladies, make sure you get your insurance to pay for your pill. You shouldn't be paying 30 bucks a month. With Cigna, I pay $10 for every three months. Insurance covers Viagra; it should cover your birth control as well!
