So, I drove to work today in the death trap of a VW Polo that I had rented. I say death trap only because I suck at driving stick. If you find yourself in that situation again, you can ride the parking brake while you shift into first to make sure you don't roll backwards. Then once you've started to release the clutch, drop the parking brake.

I hate doing it and it isn't particularly great for your brake (or your gas consumption) but it's much better than letting the car roll into the idiot who pulled up too close behind you. :D

you haven't lived until you've driven a stickshift car in san francisco. ;) haha. that'll put the fear of god into anyone.

glad you have your car now... much better driving in your own (pretty damn sweet) ride than some rental.

It's such a pleasure to drive my car on the roads here. It was meant to be driven like this. I almost feel guilty about the gas mileage.
