I registered my car today. That allowed me to get a "fuel rations card". I'm overjoyed because I get 400 liters of diesel fuel a month at the discounted price. You pick them up in 200 liter increments. When I picked up my card I think it cost me 103 euro (roughly equivalent to 150 dollars), which is about half of what it costs the locals (sorry ( Read more... ) -

So, I drove to work today in the death trap of a VW Polo that I had rented. I say death trap only because I suck at driving stick. I was stopped on a hill in Soignies and someone stopped really close to me. IKEA....
So, I've heard Americans say that IKEA in Belgium is like Wal-Mart in the US. If you hadn't guessed, I made it to IKEA today. The setup (decor, I guess) is very much like Wal-Mart or SAMS Club with the concrete slab floor and open ceiling. The variety of Belgians that go to IKEA is as diverse as those Americans that frequent Wal-Mart with the ( Read more... ) -

Our second son, Gavin Ashe Adcox was born at 0937 on 18 December 2007. He was born 7 lbs. 1 oz. and 20 3/4 inches long.
Both baby and mommy are healthy and finally home. This picture was taken minutes after he was born.

For those that haven't heard the news, the author Robert Jordan has passed away on 16 September 2007 from cardiac amyloidisis. This is a sad day for modern fantasy writers. Robert Jordan was best know for his "Wheel of Time" series, an ambitious series that started in 1990 and now 12 books later, will probably never be completed.
