Favorite Ghost Story Anthologies?

Dec 02, 2008 15:38

As most of you know, I'm utterly obsessed with ghost stories of all kinds. I own about a bookshelf-full of ghost story anthologies, but there's no shortage of them out there, and I'm always looking for them.

Reply to this post with your favorite collection of ghost stories, either by a single author or an anthology of work by different writers.

It's not "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" is it? (I haven't clicked the link yet). If so, that's one of my favorites, too.

Marvin Kaye's "ghosts" anthology- i first discovered him via the book covers Gorey illustrated for him. i have "devils & demons" and "masterpieces of terror & the supernatural". my ghost book was borrowed many years ago and not returned, but it's a good, comprehensive collection that makes a point of including non-canon works for variety.

Excellent recommendations, and those are actually ones I don't have. I'll look for them, thank you!

Turns out I DO have "Masterpieces of Terror and the Supernatural" (I have so many ghost story books sometimes I forget which I have) but not the other two.

Got your message, I've just been sick as a dog and the baby had to go to the doctor yesterday because *he* was really sick too, I haven't had 2 seconds to reply yet.

Hey, thanks for the lead on the job, but it turns out I'm "overqualified" for the position. No biggie. I just wanted to say I appreciate your thinking of me anyway.
