J and I watched Neverwhere this weekend, and I enjoyed it immensely. Despite the Tom Baker-Doctor Who level of special effects (or perhaps because of the effects--need quality elsewhere if you have monsters wrapped in fur rugs), it was really engaging: funny funny characters, mostly good acting, and another excellent look at my beloved London. J and I went down to NJ yesterday just to be good children and hang out and have dinner with the outlaws (I haven't been down since maybe early July, maybe longer). Gathering and acquiring the back-to-school materials: besides a trip to Staples for new pens and such, I got my fall handbag (good-sized, black, grommets and other hardware, and some purple-- tres me) and replaced my wallet (which I loved but which was dying). This fall, I am going to:

• take driver's ed and get a driver's license again
• become a member of MoMA and see all of the awesome exhibits
• take a knife skills class at ICE
• go to the Bronx Zoo
• go to the Botanical Gardens

I have just committed my 20+ year-old pointy Creepers to the Goodwill/trash pile, and I'm kinda traumatized. I haven't worn them more than once or twice in the last 5 years, but still...

J's suggestion when I mentioned the protest or rally outside my work building, the signs for which were all in Chinese, thus leaving me at a loss as to what was goig on: "Yell 'Free Tibet' and if that seems wrong, yell 'Never.'"
