my kingdom for a grocery store!

Josh and I visited the Albany (Solano Ave) Safeway today and it is only slightly better than the Shattuck and Rose Safeway. Dear god isn't there a decent Safeway somewhere in the North East Bay??????

I never go to Safeway anymore, it's just too much of a hassle... I guess that's good cause apparently the Safeways around here suck.

i just can't stomach the time at berkeley bowl, and the cost at andronicos or whole foods

That's totally understandable. It's funny how really swanky(ish, or hippie) or really ghetto are the only real choices.

if you want a decent mainstream type grocery store i always thought the albertsons in el cerrito was better than most. but then better than most for me means organic produce and fake meat and i almost always went to the el cerrito natural grocery store when i lived near it which is nothing at all like safeway. the natural grocery place in el cerrito was my favorite of any grocery store i have ever gone to. i wish berkeley bowl would not be so overwhelming. i get most of my produce at the farmers market or delivered from planet organics just so i can avoid berkeley bowl as much as possible.

ya, berkeley bowl is not that expensive (cheaper than whle paycheck and andronico's) but it takes too much time to get three things. Thank you. Ill check out the albertson's soon

I've always been a big fan of Albertsons, I do most of my shopping there. They just seem to have more of what I want, at a more often better price than Safeway. They aren't perfect, but when I only have time to go to one place, I usually choose Albertsons. :)

I like Trader Joes, they have lot's of healthy organic foods that are not expensive. I do not know if there is one by you or not.

I've heard good things about the one in El Cerrito, but the one in Emeryville is horrendous to get to and park at. I'll check them out.
