I used to get a bit peeved by people lumping all "modern" dissonant, disjunct, atonal, serial, etc. music into the category "experimental," especially since it seems they are rarely trying something new, but rather just rehashing the same stuff that's dominated a good portion of academia for the past 60 years. had big hands

Had a first read of Carnivel today, or of the 12 minutes I have first-drafted of it. It was pretty rocky, as it has lots of get-lost-easy traps in it, and it was just a sight read.

Regardless, it was a big reality check for me. I need to rework a LOT of it, especially for balance. I WAY over-brassed it.
