There had been some conflict over where exactly to hold the barbecue, but the Burrow had won on account of having the largest garden space. It was an obnoxiously sunny day, so some spare sheets had been transfigured into a large white marquee tent with cooling charms, allowing those who wanted to to eat in comfort at the supplied round tables.

The Weasley Family Barbecue is one of Fred's favourite times of the year, and not just because he gets to man the grill, although he does get to do that and is doing it right now. Bring him your orders for barbecued meats. He can also grill some vegetables, he's quite versatile.

"Sure. Beef, chicken, or veggie?"

Iana's kids had vanished the second they'd arrived, along with Cromwell, leaving her to sort out the food. Sometimes she wished she had Oliver's gall to just show up for thirty minutes or an hour and then slip out again. She loved her family, she did, but there were just a lot of them sometimes. Honestly, she'd rather deal with XXXX creatures some days. Maybe nobody will notice if she takes her wine and goes and admires the chickens for a bit.

Iana made a mock-thoughtful noise. "Have you tried telling them that you are actually Favier Xint, stunt-double to the stars?"

Someone had set out a separate plate of sausage rolls from the rest with "for Bolly" written on it, which was possibly intended as a jibe, but which Bolly genuinely appreciated. He took them, and a glass of sparkling cider, and went to sit where he could both watch people play games and eavesdrop on the adults in the tent.

"Nothing interesting. Either nobody knows anything about Nadya, or they're not talking about it in public," Bolly complained, uncovering a plate of Auggie's favourites and pushing it over. "Some people think mum and uncle Theo have a good chance of getting on the school board, but I don't know if they know that for sure, or they're just being optimistic."

Mari was due any day now, and Luc was a little worried about the stress of the barbecue, but they couldn't not come, that would have been very rude and sad. He'd brought a collection of French pastries with him, which he is willing to claim are handmade but which he actually bought at the last minute from a London patisserie. There was so much food, it barely fit on the table. He started putting a selection plate together for Mari.

Mari wants Luci to arrive whenever they're ready, of course, but perhaps soon? Obviously not at the barbecue but soon. Tomorrow would be great. Parenthood she'd recommend, that's great, pregnancy sucks and she couldn't in good conscience tell anyone to do it, at this point it's a lot of alternating sitting and walking trying to achieve minimal back pain. Right now maybe walking is helping and so she's absconded from one of the tables to go join Luc because actually, a madeleine would definitely help.

Luc does have a petite madeleine for her, and also an assortment of sweet and savoury snacks. He told Mari that he'd considered whatever the whipped cream and raspberries desert was, but on tasting it seemed like it had a spirit of some sort on it - whisky? rum? - and no alcohol for bebe, alas.

She is, unfortunately, used to it now and truly enduring it with great strength and grace and only pouts and wipes away one fake tear about it. It's probably rum? Rum sounds like something that would go with a berry. At some point in the future they will try it but for now oooh, carrots.

Elena is not entirely sure how she ended up here. She's not not friends with Iana Weasley-Macmillan, she supposes, but they often only speak three or four times a year. Perhaps the upcoming Board elections… Well. At the very least, the food is always good, and the day is very lovely, so she finds herself a nice table with a bit of sun, a plate of food, and a chilled glass of wine to relax with.

"Mister Flint." She lifts her glass in toast. "Congratulations on your new captaincy."
