I need help guys. I'm right on the edge of a total friggin amazing culinary breakthrough....but the final bit is escaping me. I basically made lime sorbet today using real lime zest & juice, and I realized that if I added good gin to that and put it in a cocktail glass, then I could have something really fantastic. But I feel like I'm missing ( Read more... )

Just had another thought - cucumber. I had a gin drink with cucumber before, and it was awesome. Maybe I could figure out how to add that somehow.

If you do, don't forget to peel it (because the skin has arsenic in it- ryan can't eat cucumber skins or they make him hurt). You could put a slice on the edge of the glass, and juice some of it to add to the drink.

I did a search for lime drinks on google, and here are some other things that seem to go well with lime :)

Ginger (I'm thinking if you could make a ginger sugar rim that would be awesome)
Kiwi
honeydew melon
Sage as a garnish
Vanilla (usually in icecream form, but I'd imagine a sugar rim works too)
orange
strawberry

I'm looking forward to hearing about the end results~!

Okay, so I did end up making a drink. I basically made a Mojito but added this sorbet instead of some of the ice. Everything else I did as normal, including the sugar, mint leaves, shaking and grinding processes, rum, etc...

Turned out RIDICULOUSLY good. Though it's a very sugary drink. Very girly, but unbelievably delicious.
