And it's the end... still sad even though we knew where it was going to end at the start, and still sweet and fulfilling despite the sadness. Prussia made it like he said he would, and everything he's ever done hasn't disappeared. And all the hints leading up Freddy and Romano's implied future sad-happy ending... Aah, it was all so good. There's that great feeling of closure at the end.

And I am joining in the chorus of "his childhood could fit into his backpack." What an image!

I hope you enjoyed writing this as much as I have enjoyed reading (and rereading) it~ <3

I'm so happy to hear that I did at least a passable job of laying the groundwork for their futures; I grew to like the idea of grown-up!Freddy and Romano as the story developed, and it seemed like my readers did, too.

I didn't expect that line to stick with so many people, to be honest, but I'm glad it did.

And I definitely enjoyed writing this as much as you enjoyed reading it--since I have no heart, this last chapter was my favorite to write in a lot of ways. I certainly put the most planning into it. (Although maybe the last big scene with Germany or the PruCan romance scenes or just ROMANO were fairly big contenders--okay, so maybe I loved writing ALL of this.)

Thank you so much for all of your lovely comments! I'm so happy that you enjoyed it.

Finally, I've read this... sapphiiremoon August 16 2011, 23:17:49 UTC
And damn it, you broke my heart. I don't know why I kept hoping for a happy ending. Through all of Freddy's childhood, all of the happy times, all of the adorably fluffy times, you kept up that feeling of foreboding. I think everyone knew for certain that Prussia was going to die, that there was no way out of it. Still, I grew to love him so much, and you made the relationships so real, you really could feel the pain of the other nations when he passed on. So. Sad.

I loved your reasoning for his death, I loved how much thought you put into everything. This fic was so well-written. But then I think of Romano... You know how much I love him >_<;; I'm glad you didn't write his actual death because that would have broken my heart ten times over. Still, we know that he's going to meet the same fate Prussia did. He has that "Human Feeling". I feel bad that Freddy will have to go through this again :(

Moving away from the sadness, though... I loved Freddy's crush on Romano. It was so cute, and just ROMANO! He was written so ( ... )

Wow! What a comment! Thank you so much--I'm really happy to hear that you enjoyed this fic. I don't even know what to say (although, belatedly, I ought to say happy birthday, right?). I'm sorry that it took me so long to get back to you; I'm really busy now that I'm back in school; I just finished my third week of fall term. Hoo, boy.

Anyway. It means an awful lot to me, hearing that you enjoyed this fic so much. I wish I could comment on every aspect that you mentioned, but I just don't know what to say other than thank you. Thank you so much--for reading, for commenting, for being so supportive, for everything. You're pretty awesome.

I hope that expresses some small part of my gratitude; this comment really made my day when I first read it, even though I couldn't reply. I just wanted you to know that.

Thanks.

I just stumbled across this story while looking for something completely different, and yet had to stop and read the whole thing in one sitting. So cute and so sweet (I am a total sucker for kid!fics), and the end made me cry multiple times--especially when Prussia was actually dying. "No, don't call an effing ambulance, just be with him!"

I don't even like Romano much, and yet I find myself really really hoping he won't start aging; maybe he can just change his name to that of the island in his territory where more people speak Spanish than Italian? It's not technically its own nation, but it's certainly got its own identity!

Love your characterization and your details; I'd love to see more of your work. Once you finish with school, of course. :-)

Thank you so much for your kind comment. I'm...sorry that I made you cry? (I'm a sucker for kid!fics, too.)

I'm so sorry that I never replied! Grad school (followed by this project, among others) just about killed me. I do want to keep writing, though. I actually have a few more scenes for various fics kicking around in my head. I've just had a hard time making time for fanfiction lately...

Anyway, if you have any ideas that you'd like to see me write about, feel free to mention them; sometimes ideas get away from me, so I might actually start writing fic again! (Lately it's been mostly original fiction that's grabbed my brain and not let go.)

Oh, almost forgot. I didn't like Romano either, when I first got into the fandom--but then I read coffee-flavored fate's fanfiction, and suddenly he shot up to being one of my favorite characters! It's amazing what good writing can do.
