I don’t vote, and when I tell people that they look at me like I just killed their puppy and then start lecturing me on the importance of voting and democracy and all that stuff I should have learned in high school civics class but didn’t because we didn’t have civics class and of course they could tell that I didn’t because I don’t vote.

The right to vote is not an obligation; it's a choice, which necessarily and irrefutably entails the freedom not to vote.

This has been my point of argument with Mother & Father for years as to why you don't vote. The way I look at it is you don't hassle me for voting, so why should I give you grief for not voting. Hey, 'it's a free country'...or something.

Here is a quote from an author I find respectable, Mr. Robert A. Heinlein. "If you are part of a society that votes, then do so. There may be no candidates and no measures you want to vote for ... but there are certain to be ones you want to vote against. In case of doubt, vote against. By this rule you will rarely go wrong."

On that note I am voting for Danger Mouse and Penfold this year as I wish to vote against both parties.
