I'm gonna get shanked out for this one...

Over the last few years, I’ve written many music reviews. And I’ve found, without a doubt, that the most entertaining stories and the wackiest shows generally begin with something untoward happening before I even get NEAR the venue. Last night was a good example of this ( Read more... )

Wow, crazy bag ladies...

In the moment, it must've been frightening but it sure is hilarious now.

Scary in the creepy-ooky-addams-family way, yes, but not scary in the fear-for-our-lives way. Bag ladies and aging redneck womenhippies (often indistinguishable) are rarely threatening, just good ol' fashioned crazy and amusing.

At the time, we couldn't stop laughing. She might even have known we were laughing AT her, rather than with her, but it sure didn't stop the crazy from flowing like the vino...yepperoo!

Ya know in some ways I aspire to have that sort of carefree attitude. Granted, they're mentally insane and unaware often times but still - free.

That's one way to look at it. The other way to look at it is to think that a truly crazy person is a slave to the crazy. You're trapped in your own head, watching yourself do a bunch of dumb shit and completely incapable of stopping yourself from doing any of it. You want SO BAD to think clearly and in a linear manner, and you try, but it just comes out all bent in the end.

Crazy might be free in the sense of people leaving you alone and letting a lot of otherwise unconscionable shit slide, but crazy is, in the end, slavery to your own imbalances.

Completely off topic.

Josh, you should read "Jennifer Government." By Max Barry. If you haven't already. It's sure to enduce some funny political entertainment for you.

At least, I enjoyed it.

I'm recommending it to practically everyone I know.

Also, if you're feeling up to it. www.nationstates.net

It's one of those maintain your nation type places based on the book. But it revolves completely around politics.

Talk to ya later man.

Oddly! I have read that, a few years ago. It wasn't recommended to me or anything, i just thought the cover looked really cool. and i fell in love with that book immediately. If you enjoyed it, you should try a similar work called Snowcrash by Neal Stephenson. Hilarious and dark and wickedly entertaining.

Unfortunately i don't remember a thing about it, but i still have my copy and am planning to re-read it after i finish Stephenson's The Diamond Age.

I'll check the site soon. Cheers, brother.

I'm really happy that Richmond is now as in love with the Brides as I've been for years. I've been trying to get them booked for two years now, and we finally did it.

I'll link the review in the Sacred Skank Conformity.
