Mr. Manifesto is at it Again!

Um, so I should post an enthralling entry about the last week of my life since I haven't said anything here since X-mas. But, alas, I have nothing. I don't make New Year's resolutions, I don't celebrate Christmas, and I spent most of the last week pretty much alone and uninspired ( Read more... )

hey !

Sorry didn't get to reply to your comment about hooking up for coffee and such with both of you this week-end the last few days were.. blurry to put it mildly.

If you still wanna hook up for coffee I'd be glad to. I don't know when either of you is free but this week I have nothing planned until thursday. Week-ends tend to be busy but I am sure something can be managed.

As for your smoking comment. I am a social smoker. As long as nobody is blowing smoke on my face I can days in a row without even thinking about lighting up one. So as long as you can live with the fact that I do smoke, I can live with no smoking if you are around.

That's cool, I'll ask Sonia about when she's free during the week. I know she has to go in to the lab for a while, but I think she can get off for a bit. I'll get back to you about it tomorrow as she has already gone to sleep.

hehehe, that's a cute way to make sure no one undesirable gets your info...

I should have my afternoons free for coffee breaks in between my writing marathon. I'll talk with Alex when he wakes up about which day would be best). I really need to get my sleep back on track, going to bed at 8pm and waking up at 6:30am is taking a lot of our time together...

I listened to it, and told you what I thought in person. I can retell you in a comment if you want. By the way, I have a few new songs up on my site....

Ah cool, New Elizabeth Ann Bruce tunes! I'll go and download today.

I know what your saying but I'm a needy, complainy sort of guy sometimes... I like to see the written comments, that way I actually feel like my art is more tangible. Sorry if this post annoyed you!

I'd love to discuss this with you a bit -- when are you on ICQ?

Usually after Midnight, but if no one is online I usually just turn it off after a while. I had tons of computer time over the holiday, but now that Sonia is back she's going to need to write her thesis and will be hogging the computer as long as her eyes are open. That means I'll only get time late at night.

I'm glad you liked my post though and I would love to hear what you think too. I just worry sometimes that I bore my live journal friends to death with all of this neo-political ranting.

If you really want to chat just tell me a time when it's best to meet online and I'll see if I can swing it.

Not everyone is disagreeing with you, you know. I believe it can work. Have you read William Morris's News from Nowhere? It's a great book, and deals with many of these issues ( ... )

"we still have an unemployment rate because people are unable to find work--our society as it is doesn't produce enough jobs for them. If we cut back on everyone's working hours, we could have 100% employment--reducing working hours while maintaining the same level of production"

Yes, exactly. If you reduce the amount of hours then as a direct result you get rid of unemployment. I also believe that the 40+ hour work week has a direct correlation to homelessness and crime. Human beings were not meant to spend these kind of percentages of waking time working, therefore many choose either to circumvent or completely drop out of the system.

With crime you have the "it will take me XXXX hours to get what I can just get in XX minutes so why the hell am I going to waste my whole life?". If society only demands that you work 15 hour/week and gives you a fairly comfortable life in return I think we reduce the desire to commit crime ( ... )
