I'm glad someone else feels the same. I don't hate Crash enough to get into a heated debate over but it's pretty annoying when such a mediocre movie gets so much critical praise.

Exactly. I enjoyed it when I saw it, and even commented that it was way better than I was expecting, and that it did make some interesting points... BUT, compared to the other films nominated, it is nothing more than mediocre. Some people are saying that it was a blatent slap in the face for Brokeback because the Academy wasn't comfortable with the subject matter.

I'm still pissed that Breakfast on Pluto was totally ignored.

Haha. That sums it up pretty well. Haggis' writing is so obvious, over-the-top and heavy handed that it was only too fitting that in his acceptance speech for Best Original Screenplay, he mentioned something about art being a hammer and not a mirror. If I had to come up with an alternate title for Crash it would be, "Everyone in L.A. Is The Hugest Asshole".

HAHA! They couldn't call it that because that would make Scientology redundant.

Also, ANY movie where Matt Dillon is nominated for "best" anything must suck. I mean, any movie since "Rumble Fish."
