A couple of days before the last auction, which I was not really looking forward to, I went to a rock concert at the new Warehouse 21. While there, I ran into my old friend Daniel. We used to be pretty tight back in the day but we drifted apart, as friends from high school often do.

Daniel, a friend of his who I can't remember, and I all skipped ( Read more... )

Interesting...

I suppose they decided that I didn't need to know that my assistant had been fired.

They didn't tell you?!?
Woah.
Actually, on second thought, that's pretty much par for the course.

Would you send a copy of the xls file for the time sheets to my gmail account?
I suspect I could just log in and download them myself, but that would be a bit... sketchy.

Oh, and tell Alison that I just lost the next time you see her.

I must admit; You're taking this a lot better than I would. Even if I didn't want the job, I'd say something wicked cool along the lines of, "Oh yeah? I quit!!!" if they tried to fire me. On the phone, too. Or was it a redundancy?

I don't mean to be all up in your business, sir.

I realize that you've already stated that you're okay with what's happened, but I'm still sorry this happened. On the phone, too! It smells of cowardice, from what I read. Did you work for a bunch of church mice?

You felt (somewhat) euphoric? That's really good to hear- and as for getting a job, there's always FYE.

I wanted to call you once I read this, but as I picked up the receiver, I realized that it was D&D night, and it's past eight. I'll call on the morrow. We can talk about stuff. And talk about things.

On the phone, too...

I realize that this post may seem a bit banal, but I really mean what I've said- I'm happy/sad for you.

No D&D tonight. Kim's mother is in town, and Michael has class tomorrow, so I am at my parents house catching up on my web-comics. There is this incredibly cute spider on my desk right now, but I have to type at an odd angle to keep from disturbing him/her.

What exactly is a redundancy?

I actually heard about it through "The Office". David Brent was made redundant. I didn't know what it meant, so I asked Mom. She told me that it's just what it sounds like. Someone who is made redundant is fired because he or she has a job or performs a duty that someone else (or other people) is/are doing already.

If your employees' job descriptions can be put into a Venn diagram, then the person with the fewest skills in their private semicircle, they are then made redundant.

Gotta love Venn diagrams.
