It makes me a little sad that you are thinking of giving up a ride you kind of like, but it's also important to stay safe. I hope you can find a good balance between the two. (:
I think the balance lies in riding earlier in the day, before the deer start roaming. I'm off work at 7, and am on that section of road when it starts to get dark.
I can adjust my riding accordingly to compensate for road conditions and the threats other vehicles pose. Other than riding earlier in the day, there isn't a damn thing I can do about deer - and that scares the crap out of me.
I saw this picture and the first thought was ... HEY! I know that road! Is that the road near Porta Costa? I rode so many of those twisties when I was in the Bay Area last fall!!!
Anyhow, don't let some silly dear spook you. Motorcycles are made for twisty roads!
