Was My Little Family. No guests. Just us. At home.

This year was able to get each of My Little Family a gift I thought they would enjoy.

For my spouse, a book they wanted to have again, from their youth. And a pair of dragon design earrings.

I attempted and kinda succeeded at home made churros yesterday.

I followed the recipe as written. I trust the recipe author. It might be my technique. My attempt was wholesome, but did not come out as I had hoped: like a churro vendor's would.

Born too soon. Slow is fast.

If I am remembering correctly, it seems all of recorded history, up until about a century ago, humanity would keep other humans as property (slavery).

Religious texts would mention it. It would be by conquest (war losers/victims), or based on religion, or ethnicity, and such.

Re-watched the sci-fi classic show Babylon5 via prime streaming.

Was fun.

Had a realization, that, although fiction, did teach some lessons to the viewer about politics, and multiple and sometimes conflicting desires of the characters, their factions, and governments.

Same for the show Game Of Thrones.

Did a my little family outing to the arboretum yesterday.

Did a tour of one of the historic buildings there. Was nice.

Then went with middle offspring to the mall across the street. Had lunch together there. Then went shopping for Xmas gifts there.

Was a nice day.

Was able to shop and find Xmas gifts for my little family online this year.

Got to be a The Lorax, and not have to leave the house. Huzzah!

Have had some realizations that provided anti-shame.

I have had the realization that my work environment is toxic for me. That, if I switch jobs to a job where the environment isn't toxic, I'd feel better.

I have had the realization that if I moved, upon retirement, to a location where folks are of more humble means, like myself, I'll feel good ( Read more... )

Feel shame.

It manifests itself in a few categories: being a provider, comparing myself to "peers," comparing myself and where I am in life now as compared to where I thought I would be in life by now.
