The recently released live CD/DVD of Orbital's performances at the Glastonbury festival 1994-2004 is just beautiful. Anyone wanting to see what one of 90s finest dance music pioneers were like in their prime should really give it a look.

"heart food" by Judee Sill.. how did I not hear or know of this album until now. This is one of the most achingly beautiful things I've ever heard. The whole thing is wonderous, but at the first choral singing of the words 'kyrie eleison' in The Donor it just about knocks me off my feet.

Aether by The Necks is one of the greatest and most moving 63 minutes of sound ever produced.

I think an Amazon user review sums it up best. "The opening chord itself gorgeously plunges you into the cycle and the evolution begins; at the end, you can't believe how you arrived there."

That is all.

Saw The Necks again last night, who yet again were able to prove why they are the most thrilling live band I've ever seen. I also brought some of my family along, who were similarly amazed, it's always great hearing people's reactions after seeing their first Necks performance.

Seriously I can't say enough about these guys.

I didn't really understand the movie to any great degree, but goddamn-it, Clint Mansell's score for The Fountain is one of the most wonderful things I've heard in a while. I've been listening to it daily since first getting it, and it's still just as good each time ( Read more... )

I've been meaning to post this for ages now. There's a little coin-operated merry-go-round at my local shopping centre, and I am frequently disturbed by one particular horse on it. Every time I buy the Saturday paper from the newsagency nearby my gaze is always caught by this thing and it sends shivers down my spine.
