I weigh myself on Wednesdays.Wednesdays are the day I have my post-op support group meetings, and any other scheduled appointments at the bariatric clinic are always on Wednesdays. So, it just seems like a good day for a weigh-in.
So, it was five weeks ago yesterday that I had the surgery. I lost 17 pounds the FIRST WEEK.

Well, introductions are usually a good way to start I suppose. My names Kelli, and I'm 3 months post op as of the 3rd of december, I really was just compelled to write having read your recent entries. 1st congratulations on your puppy! Nothing beats K-9 companions, and they seriously are the best walking buddies! 2ndly, many a congrats for your success thus far, and not just the weight loss which is inspired! but also, the going ahead with surgery! Dont let the little pitfalls get you down, the overall picture is sooo much more important, each day you get healthier, and dont forget, inches are the ones you seem to notice less, until the day you put on that skirt/shirt/pair of pants, and realise OhMyGosh! Well continued goodluck, and I'll watch your updates with great interest! Feel free to contact me if you ever need stranger encouragement :)

It's so nice to "meet" you! Thanks so much for taking the time to read my posts.
So, what kind of surgery did you have? And what has your experience been so far? I'm always up for talking to WLS folks--this stuff is sometimes tough to handle alone. I have supportive people in my life, but it's also very nice to be able to talk to people who have been through the same thing. I've learned a lot from the folks on the WLS community and in my weekly support group.
Today someone asked me if I was enjoying the changes in my size and overall feeling, and I said yeah! I am trying to enjoy all the changes--the smaller clothes, the ease of movement, the increased confidence... so many times in the past when Ihave lost weight, I've been very uncomfortable with the changes and with people noticing them. Now I want to relish that part.
Thanks again for replying to my post!

I agree whole heartedly with the sometimes feeling alone through this experience. I have only met one person here in NZ whose had the same procedure, and that was only due to being in the same hospital room/ward, and sadly we didnt exchange details so the only thing I have left is forums and now livejournal, so 'meeting' you helps immensley.
I had the gastric sleeve, and my experiences thus far, have been far more positive than negative, no real horrible moments and pain was kept to a minimum after being discharged, so thats always a relief.
The ease of movement is something I enjoy more than pretty much everything else I think. I mean obviously I like seeing the 'numbers' come down, and cant wait to see 200 lbs (which at this stage still seems an eternity away :[
but yeah, my life is changing daily, and Im wrapped completely wrapped :)
Keep in touch susan
