I sent her 40quid, roughly $80...however, with it arriving in less than a week...i think she may have paid more than that to get it to me.

Glad to have you back!

Hey, I'll be in NYC this Sunday for the exam. The exam runs from 1-4pm at Columbia and I have an 8pm train to catch from Penn Station, do you think we could plan anything?

omg, yeh! we can totally plan something!! We can go grab a bite at Hagi (a great japanese comfort food pub) which is on 49th st. Then there is also Kinokuniya a couple avenues over on 49th too. It's a fun japanese bookstore.

Let me know. We can grab an early dinner, before your train leaves say around 5? give us a couple hours. it's literally a straight subway ride down from Columbia. And, it's on th way to Penn Station. ^^

email me: lusmila@gmail.com and we'll coordinate. not to mention exchange digits, and what not. SO excited!! ^___^

yay, go for them all! I'm so rooting for you.
(There's a nice book called "Bad Advice" I adore to pieces but I'm afraid it might not exist in traslation, and there's this poem which goes on like this " who said that one should fall in love with a single person? Better fall for several, thus the chance is much higher that one of them would be able to appreciate your loyal and faithful heart=))"

OMFG......I am taking that one to my grave. Who's the author so i can credit their absolute Genius.

And, P.s. I LUV YA!!! truly, you are a soulsista!!

oh. p.s.s. remember that book you read, i think it was in your top 10 faves, that i was going to buy on amazon, then amazon F*KD up my order, so i never got it, and never wrote the bloody name down, so now i am having to write this run-on sentence, that makes no sense and breaks every grammatical rule in the book, and probably insults the very fibre of your linguistic being to read this run-on, just so i can ask you again: what was the name of that book and author again? you remember?

;P

LUV YA TOO *hugs back*

Uhm, I think the one you wanted to order was not the one on my fave's list, but rather the one I was reading at the time - "Mademoiselle de Maupin" by Gauthier. It is still a worthy read (especially the last part), although tempered by the deliberately slow, ecstatic manner of telling adopted by the first protagonist. Still, very noteworthy - esp, in terms of plot.

I still want you very much to read "Last Samurai" by Helen de Witt and "Master and Margarita" by Bulgakov. Those are among my absolute faves, and I'm sure you will find them in every respect worth your attention=))

The author I quoted above is someone OSTER and he's mostly famous as an author of books and rhymes for children. "Bad Advice" is part of it and is a pearl among pearls. It has many other charming and useful reccomendations to follow=)) The problem is I've been reading it in the original, so wouldn't know if it was ever translated.

and thanks for the book title again. i am going to order all three right now. ^^

I've decided after China... I'm going to live in Japan... I'm thinking about the JET program...

I think I need to get cracking on my Japanese... all this arabic and chinese is getting in the way... but I've been working on my Japanese none the less... mostly on the alphabet and on kanji... but chinese will help my kanji... it's all the same characters... ^_^

yeh, i have met people who learned chinese first and said that aspect of transferring into japanese is easy. The kanji part is pretty much downpacked. just the pronunciations are different but the meanings are the same.

so, are you fluent in Arabic AND mandarin/cantonese?

I would love to live in japan. but, the reality with my business, is more that it would be living in japan maybe parttime. lik visiting 2-3 times a year for a few weeks. Kinda like what i am doing, currently (and hopefully permenantly) with Scotland.

ideally, my dream is to spend time between the three countries: japan, Scotland, and US. Of course, more time here, only because of immediate family and Dear friends. but, i am attached to SCotland, as i am to Japan.

Planning a trip come september. so, we'll see...

I actually hope to be fluent in mandarin by the time I return from China... right now I actually know more Japanese than Chinese...

I'm still working on fluency in Arabic... I can carry on a decent conversation but I still think I need a lot of work... well not that it helps that I'm learning modern standard arabic and every arabic country has there own dialect and I only speak the morrocan dialect outside of msa.

that sounds amazing going between Japan, Scotland and the US.

you totally will be fluent in Chinese. definitely. ^_____^
And, it is STILL dang amazing that you can hold a conversation in arabic!!

Yeh, wouldn't that be amazing? i would love to have this tri-country life. It's almost there. I am hoping this gig in scotland will lead to more things. With Japan, my hopes is to colllaborate with Japanese production companies. or maybe sell my designs in Urahara.

So weird. the OTHER meaning of my LJ name, which i just found out, is not just a ref to Urahara from Bleach. BUT, is also where these up&coming artists, musicians, designers open their wee shops and perform. It's called Urahara because it is behind HARAjuku. maybe it's a good omen. ^^

if this happens: know this. I will hopefully also have accompanying apartments there...so, anyone who wanted to stay in them, when i wasn't there...can. I officially extend you an invitation.

heeheehee nice to dream. ^^
