And I think this is where we might lose the red states, because they are more comfortable with archetypes. Evil is *always* evil; there is never nuance to what an enemy has to say.

Am I really that out of touch with what people in this country believe?

No. In fact, a majority of Americans support a wide range of Democratic Party values. They've just done a terrible job of communicating that. The GOP message is simple. We've made ours too complicated for people to grasp.
