My grandfather went and died today. With his typically contrarian approach to things he did it while we were all fussing over my almost-certainly-dying grandmother. I have to wonder if he did it because he didn't want to be the one left over, or whether he just wanted to see if we were paying attention. I wouldn't put it past him ( Read more... )

I do wish we had a better verb tense to use. Apparently in linguistics there is such a thing as the plain "nonfuture" tense, but English doesn't have one. Stupid English.

You totally draw on your experience with Isobel. That's okay too.

I'm really sorry to hear that.

I think grief is one of those things that's going to take another geological epoch or so to really get the hang of. I mean, walking upright is still pretty touch and go.
