My little brother's on the spectrum as well. It's interesting what you said about your son and dinosaurs at a young age. For my brother, it was numbers. He could count and count and count. It didn't matter what he was counting, as long as he had something to count.
I remember once when I was about 8 and he was maybe 4, we were riding in my dad's car and my brother's little pipsqueak voice come from the back seat "One plus one is two. Two plus two is four. Four plus four is eight. Eight plus eight is sixteen..." and on and on. I had a little pocket calculator, trying to keep up with him. This little FOUR-YEAR-OLD managed to add into the billions in his head.
Now he's 29 and has his PhD. in theoretical physics. :)
He has a heart as big as Texas and when you are his the kid would walk on fire for you he is a truly amazing child. I'd love to have a friend like him :)
