It's the end of the boat as we know it ...

Dec 22, 2010 23:41

[The End is always weakest while consuming, while gorging itself on a world full of life or even a tiny morsel. But now, as it focuses on the single creature that it had ever truly struggled with, the only self-aware entity who had the absolute temerity to survive, it clings to Redd stubbornly, refusing to give up this prize ( Read more... )

[And just like that, the battle seems to be over. And it's quiet. So quiet that every breath Doumeki takes seems to be as loud as a cannon blast. He's frozen, crouched on the ground, bow in his hand, waiting, just waiting...for what he doesn't know]

[It stopped. The heat, the pain, the sense of wrongness in the air. All of it.

The End is gone.

And with it the captain.

Kobato bows her head in reverence, her hands intertwined together. Her grip tight. She may be praying. She may be not. Minutes pass before she raises her head, relaxing her hold. The basket of medical supplies hangs off one arm.

Time to see if she can help.

She walks through the crowd until she spots a familiar figure.]

Doumeki-san?

[Doumeki's head jerks in Kobato's direction as she says his name. He blinks once, a bit hazily, as if coming out of a dream, before he pushes to his feet]

Kobato-san.

Are you alright?

[He seems kinda out of it.]

[If Autobots could pant, Ironhide would be. As it stands now, air is rushing in and out of his vents, trying to cool the massive frame. It's not really effective. His systems are too keyed up, running too hard and hot from the fight, from the emotions flooding through his spark. He straightens up, scanning the assembled passengers.

They made it. They... made it.

He should feel relieved. But when he looks out over those people and that nothingness, his spark drops. This... can't possibly be good. As much as he wants to run and find his loved ones - his charges, he can't. As much as he wants to sag onto the deck and recharge, he won't. There's a more pressing matter to see to first. After all... not everything is back to normal.]

Where is the bridge? We should get moving again.

[It might help something, at least. Maybe find an escape route, something.]

[Ironhide's question jolts Doumeki out of the stupor he was sunk into, and after half a moment of gathering himself, he pushes himself to his feet]

We should. We might be able to find the bridge now.

[He grunts, and glances toward the strange human. He's never met him before, but oh well. Something... occurs to him.]

Find the bridge. And hurry.

[He then nods, and looks back toward the rest of he ship. He sets himself, and, in his best battlefield voice, calls out.]

Anyone still on their feet! Try to find the bridge. Get this vessel moving!

[Doumeki nearly winces at the volume, but refrains, waiting until he's done, and observing what some of the other passengers are doing before deciding where to go]

[The last of his munitions spent and curiously studying what was left of everything in the aftermath of The End, Cou lets his depleted handgun clatter to the deck as he takes a few steps. It's a strange feeling, their foe seems to have been gunned, shot, stabbed and any number of ways to snuff a life to death. In the process, the Captain and crew of the ship have given their lives up.

But for what?

The pirate stands on the rusted deck, amidst his fellow passengers, unsure of just how he should feel. To look at it simplistically, the bad guy was gone and they beat it. However, what was to happen to all those left behind? He wasn't even sure if he should feel happy, relieved or upset.

Not really paying attention to where he's walking, he stumbles into someone and without even making eye contact, merely asks what he feels is the most important question.]

So... what now?

[Oh Jinx.

Jinx you are so fucking stupid.

This is Mimmi giving you the biggest hug in the universe, Jinx. While crying, too]

[Marj on the other hand is going to punch you in the head. As soon as she's done wiping her eyes from all this blue crap that got in it because she's not crying dammit. And she's leaning on you because the deck is slippery.

...

....shut up.]

[Lol what. Jinx didn't think Mimmi liked him enough to actually make physical contact.

WHAT IS THIS? Anyway, Mimmi now has a nice bit of blood and sweat on her blous-

OH SHIT That didn't hurt as much as it could have, but it was pretty damn surprising. And Jinx doesn't mind having all these sexy ladies leaning on him. He might even hug them back with his shaky hands that hopefully won't accidentally grope either of the women.]

Come on boy.

[Ironhide stops beside him. He sounds exhausted, and his frame is sagging slightly. All the same, he holds down a hand for his charge.]

On your feet. One more mission left.

[One more mission -- he'll trust Kevas and his lot to figure out the rest. He starts to haul Zuko up... and then just lifts the boy. He can't really embrace anything organic, because that would lead to crushing.

But hey. This is about as close as it gets.

It's also brief, maybe a moment or two, before he sets the boy down again.]

We must. No one else around to do it.
