I have found my sewing table!
I have not found homes for all the stuff that was heretofore obscuring it, but I can walk around the room without tripping over anything, so that's a start.
I am part-way through reassembling my summer dress. I might sneak in 'finish transformation-of-hideous-skirt-into-gorgeous-miniskirt project' before coming back to ( Read more... )

Hooray for sewing and balance

That sucks that there is bullying in your workplace. What's your workplace stance on bullying (Government depts usually have pretty good policies on this)? Is it something you can formally bring to the attention of your boss and get some back-up on? If you think he's being more overt just to get a rise out of you then a short, "if this behaviour persists, I will take it to the next level" then ignore it (i.e. don't show any visible reaction other than to state that it isn't acceptable). He might lose interest if he isn't getting a response.

Some guys are just arseholes though and will retaliate to being confronted. Those ones are best to formally raise with your boss and escalate to the next grievance level.

There is a policy and procedure. I have to be a bit careful as I did call him an arsehole across the office in front of other staff members, which is also bullying behaviour under the policy. Plus I'm on contract, he's permanent, and he's a gay man which may or may not give him more sympathy. So far my manager has made excuses for the behaviour that triggered my reaction in the first place. "It's Just Him" seems to be the standard view. He does things a little differently and we should all make allowances seems to be the attitude.
I will see how it goes over the next week, keep a log of everyhting then make a decision. I think he's having 6 weeks off over Christmas, so that may help.
I feel terrible though becasue I've always known he's a bully, and I stood by and did nothing when I saw him bully annoying-former-desk-neighbour. Maybe if I'd said or done something then... I can't help feeling I am partly to blame, both for shouting at him and for not speaking up earlier. How messed up is that!?! I'm to blame for being bullied!

I think I might have a couple tunics for you by the end of the week, if that's cool.

Also, rest from conflict is good <3
