Man Flu Alert! UPDATE 3.55 pm

SammyHubby has developed the following Man Flu symptoms: sniffles; sore throat; tiredness; headache. While this may be no more than a Common Cold, there is a high likelihood of it developing into a full blown case of Man Flu or the slightly less virulent but equally debilitating Man Cold.

If he has fever (temperature over 37.8 degrees Celsius) in addition to those symptoms you described, he may have the flu (especially if he also has cough and sore muscles/joints). If there is no fever, chances are its just a cold.

Not much you can do for cold, for flu you can take antivirals (Tamiflu or Relenza), which work a treat if you take them early (the prescription information says within 48 hours of start of symptoms, but you would really want to take them within at most 36). You'd need a prescription to get them and they are costly (about $50, not reimbursed). Well worth it if you have a true flu, but will do nothing for a cold.

He has been given antibitoics for a throat infection, so not cold or flu after all. But good tips none the less :) You're very knowledgable on flu!

Oh dear, a man with either Man Flu or Man Cold is not a fun thing. I stupidly went outdoors on a windy day on the weekend and now have a head full of snot. I'm currently bailed up on the couch at home. The CPD has just SMSed to ask if I need anything and to say he's thinking of coming home early because he has a stuffy head. This combined with him getting a cold sore on the weekend, and him being incredibly mopey yesterday means that we're probably getting a case of Man Cold here as well :(

Oh no! If only we could quantine them together. Tell CPD you need Chineese chicken soup (coup optional).
Hope you are feeling better soon. In the interim, enjoy being mopey on the couch together ;)

CPD managed to stay at work and seems to have perked up, so maybe he hasn't quite succumbed to Man Cold yet. I've got a good stash of chicken and vegie soup I made the other weekend, so I'm set :)

Oh poor SamHubby. Hope he feels better now that he's been dosed with drugs.

I'd start gargling salt water if I were you... yucky infections!
