Anyone have any suggestions about dealing with a completely out-of-control, hard-headed, defiant 3-year-old?  I'm going to pull out my fucking hair very soon!

I need a day off!

LOL see, they called it the terrible twos, I didn't get that with mine, but when she turned three....holy shit! it was as if some monster had possessed my sweet little daughter...i was totally at my wits end. So, what I started doing was a variation of the resentment prayer on her, like God please let me be compassionate and firm so that I can discipline her instead of reacting to her and she can learn from it instead of just learn to act right out of fear...." and I instituted different levels of punishment...i would put toys in the "give away bag" and once they went in they didn't come out and that was also the year we started the star chart and if she got five stars IN A ROW...then she could go to the dollar store and pick out ONE thing (cuz you know, it was just a dollar) this seemed to work well for us but once you set the guidelines, stick to em cuz they wait for the first waiver, the first time you're too tired to fight about it etc...and then it's on again!! I love you******HUGS FROM AFAR****hope it helps

yeah...we do the bag and the chart. she has earned a few toys from the chart that have ended up in the bag! lol she hasn't gotten a single sticker on the chart for almost 2 weeks now. she is just bad ALL the time!
i know it has something to do with the new baby. its really hard to be compassionate about it though. ya know?

I found, in raising a VERY Strong Mined Daughter (http://rosies.homeschooljournal.net/) that breaking a child's will is not the goal. Working with their personality is. Both my children's personality were set at the time of birth ( ... )
