I'm really thinking it's some kind of tampering on Naomi's part. Why? I'm not sure, but I agree. Something is off. I don't think he imagined it all, but I think something about his memories was altered, for sure.

Well, if Naomi can alter a SERAPH's memories, humans would be child's play, so, yeah, that makes sense.

Also, I am all flaily that Cas is now actually a seraph!

Thank you! I love this kind of stuff so much, and I haven't had much time to do this a lot lately. And the last couple of seasons seemed like there wasn't as much of attempt to do this kind of silent storytelling ( ... )

Hey, I'm having myself a blast, here, too, so thank you! And feel free to rec the post wherever. I love having people to flail about this stuff with. *G*

I really want to find that "Good God, Y'all" image; I went back through my LJ and I definitely saw it, because I referenced it in connection with a Dean/Ellen fic, so I know it's there SOMEWHERE, DAMMIT. And I know we've seen Madonnas more than that, too, I just can't remember where all. That one's going to the top of the "Meta I Want To Do" list.

I've been thinking about mirroring a lot this season, too. One thing I noticed, but didn't point out in the top post, is that in the picnic pictures, Lisa's and Amelia's sitting positions mirror each other, the way they've got their feet pointed. And not always literal mirroring, either. Even before the season premiere aired, I was saying that something was weird about the cabin scene we got in the promos, because Dean was wearing plaid, which he hardly ever does, and Sam was in solid colors, which he hardly ever wears. It's like ( ... )

mmm see i am thinking you are spot on here (and esp love the madonna reference), but I still seem them as metaphors ratehr than literal signs eg Sam was living in a "dreamworld" in that he had run away from dealing with hwat had hapepned to Dena and Kevin, and yes Amelia did save him. But I ams till curious as to what may be the angel involvemnt in all this!

It's the time sequence that seems off to me--I think it's likely that Sam and Amelia had some kind of interaction in the real world, but it's not exactly what we've seen.

I mean, we see Sam's first interaction with Amelia at the motel take place while the dog's leg was still in a cast. And the next time Sam sees her, she asks if the dog is taking his antibiotics, which should place that scene no more than two weeks later. But when the dog runs into Amelia's room, he's actually running, almost flat-out, and there's no cast any more. I've had a dog have broken bones before, and watched a friend take care of a dog with a broken leg, and there is absolutely no way that dog could do that kind of running after two or three weeks, and if he's healed that much, he wouldn't be on antibiotics any longer. So something is off with Sam's mental timeline, at the least.

As for the angels, I wouldn't trust Naomi any further than I could throw her.

The other thing about the Amelia picnic scene? Jensen directed that. And given what he's said about his other eps, he's very deliberate and precise about those kinds of callbacks and homages. I seriously doubt those similarities aren't intentional on his part, even if they weren't scripted as such--though I bet that is exactly what the script called for. (And Sam *did* witness that dream of Lisa....)

HA! I did not remember that, thank you!

I really would love to talk to the set people, holy crap. I may have to go find them on Twitter--I know some of the crew is on there.

The El Sol pick up is great. Man, I'd love that to actually mean something. I think it could symbolise Sam living in his dream (aka escape) world rather than it being manipulated or false (though for a dream world it sure was messed up...which I think is actually the point).

The Madonna reference is a lovely pick up also. If we find out that it is a deliberate reference I will be mighty impressed. :))) (and a lot happier...)

I'm completely sure that Madonna reference was deliberate--I mean, that halo is REALLY obvious, and the edges are really clear--my husband, who sometimes looks at me funny when I get all excited about this kind of stuff, took one look at that shot and said, yep, that's a halo. That kind of precise lighting is something you can't get without preparation ( ... )

Oh hey! I've done community theatre for about that long too. :) I know that every thing is planned for every shot and I love the way you've matched the two images. the heart necklace is particularly curious (and makes the image of her being madonna more convincing).

I just wonder what they are trying to say with it. I feel so weary of speculating, so I'll just be patient and wait. It does give me more hope that there's more than meets the eye with Amelia.

And re the wall paper - there's always something that's "off" in all the flashbacks. It's only every small details but I wonder if it's there to feed into that feeling. Like spaghetti and hotdogs. If Amelia was this perfect person in Sam's "dream world" she wouldn't be a grumpy vet who lives in a strange looking motel room and makes awful dinners. Ack...I just don't know. IT'S ALL GOT TO MEAN SOMETHING! (and it's thoughts like this that I think make each episode so disheartening. I keep hoping for some clever piece of information that will confirm any of this stuff we ( ... )

Well, lk737 said in an earlier comment that Amelia could be pregnant, and since we usually see a mother associated with the image, like the picture on the wall behind Ellen in "Good God, Y'all" and the statue on the mantelpiece in "Sex and Violence," I think it's possible, especially since they've been establishing parity between the brothers in all sorts of things this season--"normal" year off, demon friend the other brother wants to kill, brother went to other dimension and the other one didn't go look for him (lk737 talks about that in this thread). I don't know how to feel about that, actually ( ... )
