I find that I am constantly struggling to keep myself from believing that success is measured by how widely recognized and/or appreciated something is. I mean, why should any of us bother attempting to be creative when it is obvious that we don't have even the capability of being the next Dali or Monet. Fame seems so unachievable. I know the disappointment of that -I still feel it sometimes (especially now that I go to a school where I am just a face in a sea of faces). What I have come to recognize is that, yes, I can "paint" amazingly -just in a way that is currently under development and in a way that will probably, ultimately be seen and appreciated by a few close people. My "art" is just as moving (if not more moving) than Dali's for the small circle of people who I am privileged enough to expose it to (you guys =-). Just because I struggle with myself and am not and probably will not be famous doesn't minimize the magic that I am so thankful to recognize and, dare I say, create. You always give me a positive alternative insight, it makes for a nice option. So often I realize how incredible my friends are, but less often I actually tell them that. I miss you, Seth! You are truly incredible.
