Student arrested and expelled for making an Counter-Strike map of his school.

I... I don't have any words to describe how stupid this is. Of everybody involved in this story, the one who does not need to be smacked is the FPS-playing student.

We did one of our halls. It wasn't terribly exciting (Sniperfest top stories were, um, problematic), but it was done for a lark.

I had always wanted to make a Doom map of the areas around my school. I had been measuring the distances and everything to make a map, but never ended up doing anything but make a POVray file of the outside of the school.

I'm probably dating myself with saying a Doom map... ;) It was the first one that could have actually made it look relatively accurate.

I had made a few other maps, mostly patterned after the compass rose on a map, or other similar structures.
