I went to the movies on a school night!

Tonight I went to the movies with my Christian friend Lucky. She is one of the people in my life, who despite a tremendously close friendship, does not know about the history of myself and BK. Anyway, as she becomes increasingly Christian (or increasingly devoted to Jesus Christ her Savior) her opinions become more and more aligned with those of ( Read more... )

I think that says quite a bit about our society. People are more likely to accept what's most familiar to them, even if it means accepting sin (and Woody Allen!) while turning their backs on love. What backwards values our God-fearing country has!

It reminds me of all the critics who say marriage should be between a man and a woman but fail to acknowledge that 50% of those so-called traditional marriages fail. Maybe if these critics focused their attention on the 1% divorce rate for Vermont's civil unions, they'd learn a thing or two about the right and wrong way to do things.

In Lucky's defense...her religious beliefs do interfere with her politics beliefs. She struggles with her beliefs regarding human rights...civil rights and fairness...and the fact that her Bible tells her that things she may think are "fair" are un-Christian. She isn't hateful by any means.

With that said, I still didn't intend for us to spend any time with her during your visit.

even before the adultery, her happily seeing a woody allen flick sent up the first alarm for me...

but then again, this flavor of hypocrisy is the story of my upbringing and of many present dealings with my family. although my family sounds much worse than lucky, if she does indeed grapple with human rights issues and is not hateful.
